Creating an Initial Configuration with MonArch, the Configuration Tool in GroundWork Monitor Open SourceThere are several option one may use to get started with an initial configuration. One can simply use the existing commands, services, and profiles to set up monitoring on hosts, using the default settings and profiles. The New Host Wizard can be used to create new host profiles as one deploys hosts in this manner. See GroundWork documentation for more details. Alternatively, if one has an alternate source of data that uniquely defines hosts to be monitored, such as a spreadsheet or test file, the Profile Import facility can be used. See GroundWork documentation for more details. Finally, one can set up a Nagios server in the usual way, and import configurations as described above. This method is sometimes preferable simply because it avoids the need to learn how MonArch works before getting to use it on a large number of hosts and services, and because the act of loading an existing configuration creates all the service definitions that can then be used to create profiles. |
