GroundWork Monitor 3 provides low-cost enterprise-class system monitoring

KEY FEATURES

Fast, flexible monitoring status views

GroundWork Monitor’s interface provides a scalable, flexible view of monitoring status. A hierarchical list of monitored hosts expands and contracts to display detailed host status quickly. Pop-up windows allow a multitasking user to launch a window with detailed status information about a server or network device and anchor it on the desktop.

Sophisticated alarm processing

GroundWork Monitor alerts IT staff to problems in the infrastructure via email, pager, SMS or IM. The system’s escalation feature ensures that someone is always notified. GroundWork Monitor can be configured with sophisticated alarm filters and event correlation to minimize false alarms.

Data-rich event monitoring console

GroundWork Monitor Console view provides more detailed at-a-glance event and status data than the monitoring status screens. The Console is ideal for operators in Network Operating Centers (NOCs), because it provides highly detailed (and configurable) monitoring data in near real time.

Configurable Web portal framework

GroundWork Monitor’s Web portal–based interface enables companies to configure the monitoring system for different IT staff roles. The portal is an integration point for consolidating and presenting IT information and analysis with single sign on and role based authorization providing added security and administration control. The portal, based on Jetspeed, a Java-based open source framework, allows GroundWork to provide a common look and feel for any application, whether it is an open source package, customer application or third-party vendor’s application.

Robust operational and management reporting

The role-based layouts allow us to better serve people with different needs. GroundWork Monitor provides in-depth reports on alarms, notifications, and outages as well as performance graphs on measured metrics, CPU utilization, memory, etc. These reports feature drop-down menus for easy configuration by time period, host, alarm type and other key variables. GroundWork Monitor also includes an open source report generation tool enabling advanced users to design and generate custom, ad hoc reports.

Web-based configuration tool with device profiles

GroundWork Monitor Architect (“Monarch”), an integral part of the solution, eases and speeds up the configuration of the monitoring system from a simple Web-based interface. Post-installation, Monarch simplifies maintenance of the monitoring system when additions, changes and deletions are made to the IT infrastructure. Monarch uses device specific profiles that contain both predefined and user definable monitoring parameter settings. Using profiles, administrators can quickly configure GroundWork Monitor to monitor groups of similar devices the same way and benefit from GroundWork’s deep expertise in monitoring design best practices.
