Director, Product Marketing

Groundwork Open Source Solutions is a venture-backed software company offering enterprise-class IT management solutions based on open source software. The company has 30 employees and is based in Emeryville, CA.

GroundWork is seeking an experienced director of product marketing to develop and implement product marketing strategies and activities for the company. The director will serve as the product champion, articulating the value proposition of the company’s products and services based on a keen understanding of customer needs and competitive dynamics. The director will manage lead generation activities, and support Sales with collateral, demos and other tools to communicate the value proposition of company products to both technical and business audiences. This position is both strategic and tactical, requiring an ability to manage multiple projects as well as day-to-day program activities.

Responsibilities:

  • Product and service positioning and message development
  • Sales training and tools development – presentations, demos, datasheets, white papers, other printed collateral
  • Lead generation program development and management – online advertising, Web seminars, event marketing
  • Web site content development and management
  • Marketing database development and maintenance (Salesforce.com)
  • PR and analyst relations management
  • Market and competitive analysis
  • Channel marketing program support

Requirements:

  • 8+ years of experience in marketing and/or product management of enterprise software
  • Domain knowledge of, and experience in, IT management software (i.e., network and systems management, etc.)
  • Strong technical skills, with the ability to represent the company from a market and technology standpoint
  • Understanding of the technical and market characteristics of open source software
  • Excellent writing and presentation skills
  • Strong project management skills and the ability to work well under tight deadlines
  • MBA and/or technical degree preferred but not required
