Remote Monitoring System Management
With Remote Monitoring System Management, GroundWork becomes an active partner in your monitoring system. We act as your monitoring system manager, ensuring that your system configuration reflects changes in your infrastructure. As new servers, network devices and applications come online, we'll make sure they're designed into your monitoring system and tuned for maximum performance.
Specific tasks and responsibilities performed by GroundWork:
- Serve as adjunct member of the customer’s Change Control Board to identify and schedule additions, changes, and deletions from the configuration of the GroundWork Monitor system.
- Add, change, and delete configurations from the GroundWork Monitor system at pace with the implementation of changes to the corresponding IT infrastructure. Control all changes to the Monitor configuration using a Concurrent Versioning System (CVS) installed on the Monitor server and backed up at GroundWork.
- Support and participate in incident reviews. Create time lines from the GroundWork Monitor system to help determine what happened and when.
- Monitor the incident management process to determine additional monitoring coverage and initiate change requests for approval by customer contact and the customer Change Control Board, as appropriate.
- Update notification and escalation lists and contact information as requested
- Update report distribution lists
- On a weekly basis, check in by email with a designated list of customer managers to review results and the most recent weekly Monitoring Operations Summary Report (generated by GroundWork Monitor). Provide network bandwidth utilization report to the network manager.
- Work with the availability management process leader to provide regular availability management reports, and provide quarterly report generation assistance for updates to the availability management plan.
- Work with the capacity management process leader to provide regular capacity management reports and each quarter provide assistance for any ad hoc reports required for capacity planning.
- Write a monthly activity report describing activities, issues and recommendations.
- Administer the Monitor system and associated OS and hardware.
- At customer’s request, provide training and documentation for all of the above to enable customer personnel to assume the role of system manager.
